Matt Fidler, Registered Psychotherapist

Matt Fidler (he/him) is a registered psychotherapist with extensive experience working with young adults, adults, and seniors. He uses a warm, conversational therapeutic style, implementing an integration of narrative, mindfulness-based cognitive-behavioural, and strengths-focused methodologies. Mr. Fidler uses his background in grief counselling and crisis support to effectively collaborate with clients, whether it’s working towards specific goals, processing trauma, or providing a nonjudgmental space to companion them in their pain.
Mr. Fidler has training and experience working with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, and trauma (including first responders). He also has a specialty in working with grief and loss, including bereavement, caregiver, and end-of-life circumstances.
Mr. Fidler completed his education at Yorkville University, receiving his Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology. He has professional experience working at Evergreen Hospice, providing grief-based services to populations in York region. Prior to his training as a psychotherapist, he also provided crisis support for Distress Centre Durham’s crisis line and callout program.
In terms of other interests, Mr. Fidler thoroughly enjoys pursuing a number of hobbies, including songwriting, floor hockey, creative writing, and games of all kinds. He also loves spending time with family and friends, enjoying delicious food wherever he can find it.
