Dr. Rebecca West, Ph.D., C.Psych (Supervised Practice)
Psychologist
Dr. Rebecca West is a Psychologist in supervised practice with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree from Toronto Metropolitan University and then earned a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from the University of Western Ontario. Additionally, Dr. West received her doctorate in Clinical and Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto.
Her research has centered on trauma, particularly focusing on sexual violence and childhood maltreatment, as well as non-suicidal and suicidal tendencies. She also identifies protective factors that may help alleviate the harmful effects of these adverse experiences. Dr. West has received numerous grants and awards in recognition of her exceptional research achievement and productivity. She integrates her findings into her practice to enhance the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions. Dr. West has worked and trained in various settings, including private practices, hospitals, and post-secondary institutions, providing psychological assessment and treatment services to adults with a diverse range of mental health concerns. She individualizes treatment to meet the unique needs and therapeutic goals of each client. Employing an eclectic approach, she incorporates various evidence-based modalities, such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).

With a warm, compassionate, non-judgmental, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed approach, she empowers clients to embark on their healing journeys and pursue meaningful changes in their lives at their own pace. Committed to understanding each individual’s unique experiences, Dr. West strives to create a space where every voice is heard and valued.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, staying active, being outdoors, reading a good book, and traveling.
