Katie Strain, MSW, BSW, RSW
Registered Social Worker
Katie Strain is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Katie completed her Masters Degree at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland where she focused on identifying colonialism as a social determinant of health for Indigenous Canadians.
Katie has previous experience as a crisis social worker supporting those affected by crime and tragic circumstances. Katie currently works with first responders in an inpatient setting that focuses on trauma and substance use. Katie has training and experience in trauma-focused therapies, Dialectal Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and other mindfulness-based approaches. She works from a trauma-informed and strengths-based perspective and takes a collaborative, client-centered approach to therapy. Katie places a large emphasis on rapport building to ensure a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental environment. She aims to walk along side you on your journey to healing in the way that fits right for you.
Outside of work, Katie coaches competitive girls hockey, rebinds books, and plays tennis and pickleball.
